Old Post Office Lane, Blaxhall

Another job in sunny Blaxhall.

This was a total refurbishment of an old property that hadn't really been updated for some years/decades. The owners had a vision of what they wanted for which I believe we achieved.

Working with old buildings can be challenging but also rewarding too, with this we had to strip it out including floors to create more head room and re-design the whole lay-out.

Not only did we do a full renovation of the existing building but we demolished the old garage, porch and even a tree in the middle of it all and in it's place, built a kitchen extension and double garage with a store room too.

Upstairs we vaulted the ceilings for extra space and created a beautiful built in wardrobe working around the chimney stack. We also added a bathroom.

Working our way downstairs you'll see a new configured staircase which has a shallower pitch from the original, this is wider and gives a grander appearance.

On the ground floor you'll find an open plan living room with large doors and windows over looking the secluded garden along with the original brick fireplace, which we uncovered and restored.

We knocked the living room through into what was the old kitchen and created a spacious dining room. We replaced the windows and made one larger to let more light in and to bring the garden into focus more.

From there we knocked out the original front doorway and the adjoining wall to create a seamless flowing space into the kitchen.

Leading off the kitchen is a shower room, which we re-designed and fitted a roof light in.

The kitchen then leads in to the double (almost triple) garage which has multiple uses including a utility, a store for bikes and kayaks and of course, you could even put a car in it!

Outside, we removed all of the overgrown bushes and some of the trees and landscaped it - including a retaining wall using sleepers. We created 2 patio areas and a pathway connecting the 2 levels and to the front of the house we block-paved the drive and fitted the all important EV charger.

All in all it was a fantastic project to work on, and I have to say the customers played their part too as together we worked well as a team - which always helps.
